So you're coming to Hong Kong - or maybe you're already here - and you're wondering what to do with your time. Should you go island-hopping or street-walking? Should you go to the big, glossy, designer shops or the small, friendly, local markets? Should you take the bus, the MTR, the ferry, the tram, the minibus (red or green?) or just jump in a cab? Is your lack of Chinese going to let you down? Where is safe, where is fun, where is exciting - where is cheap, where is expensive - where is loud and lively, where is quiet and peaceful - where is local, where is full of tourists and expats? Where are the best sights, sounds, smells, tastes and experiences of Hong Kong?
Well... I can't answer all these questions, and some of them obviously depend on you - but I've lived in Hong Kong for a couple of years, explored the place pretty well, been an impromptu tour guide a couple of times, and briefly been a tourist here once before moving in. It's all my opinion, naturally, and as up-to-date as I can get it at the start of 2008
